Zimmer Durom Acetabular Cup

The Zimmer Durom Acetabular Cup (Durom Cup) is a replacement component that has been used in over 12,000 replacement surgeries. Manufactured by Zimmer Holdings, the largest orthopedic parts manufacturer in the U.S., the Zimmer Durom Cup has been linked to several injuries caused by the devices failure to work.

Failure of the Durom Acetabular Cup

According to reports, patients who received a Durom Cup experienced a high failure rate, caused by the Durom Acetabular Cup’s inability to bond with the host bone. Patients whose Durom Cup failed to work properly complained of severe pain and would eventually have to undergo replacement surgery. The device has been known to fail in as little as three months after surgery.
