National Whistleblower Center

The National Whistleblower Center is an advocacy organization that works on behalf of individuals who speak up about the wrongdoing they observe at their place of work or in their industry or military organization. It's a not-for-profit, non-partisan group established in 1988, with a key staff of ten experts based in Washington, D.C.

appearing before Congress to garner support for whistleblower protection legislation

The Center has accomplished much since its inception, with victories such as:

exposing the illegal no-bid contracts between the Army Corps of Engineers and Texas-based Halliburton/KBR for the reconstruction of Iraq following the 2003 invasion
getting the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) to create whistleblower protection for it agents and accredit its crime lab
successfully pressuring former President Bush to withdraw his nominee for director of the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) — based on the nominee's prior retaliation against EPA whistleblowers
making the EPA end its policy of promoting the application of sewage sludge on farm land
recovering hundreds of millions of dollars from corrupt government contractors
forcing the review of thousands of criminal convictions by the U.S. Dept. of Justice, resulting in the release from prison of many innocent individuals
obtaining a U.S. Dept. of Labor ruling that protects individuals who blow the whistle on a non-governmental organization (NGO) or non-profit environmental organization
ensuring that whistleblowers in the U.S. military are informed of their rights by the Dept. of Defense
