Toyota Sudden Acceleration Deaths

The Voice of America reports that more than 50 deaths have been linked to problems with unintentional acceleration in Toyota vehicles. Deaths caused by Toyota sudden acceleration seem to be playing a rather large role in the massive controversy surrounding the national issue.

What Causes Toyota Acceleration Fatalities?

Too many people could potentially be at risk for the problem not to be solved. While Toyota makes claims that the problem lies in issues with removable floor mats and mechanical errors that may cause the gas pedal to stick, researchers have been challenging this theory. One study, in particular, examined Toyota's fail-safe strategies to determine if there is a defect in the electrical throttle system.
