Toyota sudden unintended acceleration crashes have resulted in several fatalities and injuries. Reports indicate the there have been more then 50 crashes alleging an unexpected increase in speeds. Investigations are being conducted to figure out what is causing these crashes.
The exact number of crashes caused by sudden acceleration will be impossible to determine as many go unreported, and others may be blamed on other causes. As of March 2010, the number of reported incidents involving death reached 43.
As the number of complaints stacks up, the Japanese automaker is getting more and more heat from the media and safety regulators. It has issued two safety recalls involving millions of popular vehicles and is asking customers to bring their recalled vehicles to Toyota dealers for repairs.

Investigators are trying to get to the bottom of the issue and figure out if the problems lies in a manufacturing defect in Toyota’s Electrical Throttle Control systems. Toyota denies such claims.
