While Toyota has recalled 2.3 million cars in the U.S. and 8 million worldwide, the auto company insists the problem of sudden unintended acceleration is not one of electronics. Instead, the manufacturer states the problem is mechanical, caused by:

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is asking the NHTSA about what it is doing concerning the problem and requested additional reports on how many complaints are being filed by Toyota drivers.
