Stryker is one of the largest medical device companies in the world, and they’re in the news lately because of a significant problem associated with a particular type of product made by Stryker - post-operative pain pumps. Several models of “post-op” pain pumps are made by Stryker:
The Stryker Pain Pumps are designed to deliver a local anesthetic agent such as lidocaine or bupivacaine to a surgical site after the surgery has been completed. The anesthetic agents used with these pain pumps are not narcotics, and thus do not have the set of side effects that accompany narcotic use.

The Stryker pain pumps are for temporary use. When a patient’s post-operative pain has subsided, the pain pump can be removed.
Although the purpose of Stryker pain pumps is to relieve pain, the use of pain pumps has been linked to a painful, permanent condition known as PAGCL, the acronym for “post-arthroscopic glenohumeral chrondrolysis.” PAGCL has developed in patients who were given a pain pump (whether Stryker or another brand) after arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder joint.

The development of PAGCL after the use of a pain-controlling medical device is an unexpected side effect for which Stryker and other pain-pump companies may be held liable.
If you were treated with a Stryker pain pump and you have been diagnosed with PAGCL, you should contact a pain pump lawyer to discuss your legal rights. If a defective medical device has harmed you or a member of your family, it’s best to know your options.
According to recent reports, patients who had surgery for dislocated shoulders are saying the product they used to control the pain caused more harm than good.
Many patients have reported that in trying to ease their pain us...
