Seroquel is a prescription drug that has been approved to treat patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Clinical studies have found that Seroquel is effective in treating the positive (delusions, thought disorder, and hallucinations) and the negative (apathy, listlessness, and social withdrawal) symptoms of schizophrenia. Studies were also conducted to test the effectiveness of Seroquel in treating bipolar disorder. It was concluded that Seroquel can greatly relieve the symptoms of rapid-cycling bipolar disorder. These are the only two FDA approved uses for this medication. However, it is being prescribed to treat other ailments as well.
In low doses, Seroquel is also being prescribed to treat depression and anxiety disorders. Doctors have also found that in patients who suffer mental disorders, Seroquel insomnia is relieved due to the sedative properties of this medication. By taking Seroquel, insomnia can be relieved in patients who normally have difficulty sleeping. It is important to note that by taking Seroquel insomnia may be alleviated, but this use has not been conclusively studied or approved by the Federal Drug Administration.
By using Seroquel, insomnia may be relieved, but it is important to be aware of the potential adverse side effects of taking this medication. Seroquel has been proven to cause Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS), Tartive Dyskenesia, Hyperglycemia, and Type 2 Diabetes in some users. These are all potentially fatal, irreversible and difficult to treat. Seroquel has also been shown to cause cataracts in animal studies. Seroquel is heavily processed in the liver, and may have adverse effects on hepatatic functioning. The effects of Seroquel on pregnancy, childbirth, and breast feeding are unknown.
Other common side effects of Seroquel include: sleepiness (hence the Seroquel insomnia relief), low blood pressure, dizziness, seizures, weight gain, the inability to reduce core body temperature, rapid heart beat, hypothyroidism, altered mental states, prolonged erection in men, unusual secretion of breast milk in females, weakness, and many other symptoms related to more serious problems.
If you are considering Seroquel insomnia relief measures, it is important to be aware of its side effects and the lack of conclusive evidence or government approval in using Seroquel as a sleeping pill. If you are using Seroquel for insomnia relief and you have experienced any problems or adverse symptoms of this medication, seek medical attention immediately. If you have been injured as a result of Seroquel insomnia use, you may wish to speak to an attorney who can advise you of your legal right to seek compensation for your damages.
