Prilosec® (omeprazole) is a prescription medication to provide relief for prolonged heartburn. It is in a class of medications called proton pump inhibitors that work by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach.
Recently it has come to light that patients taking Prilosec®, its generic equivalents, or over-the-counter versions may be at increased risk of fractures of the wrist, hip and spine. These suspected results of taking Prilosec® usually occur in older persons who have been taking higher doses of the medication or taking it for prolonged periods of time.
If you or someone you love has taken Prilosec® or any other prescription or OTC versions of it and then suffered a fracture of the wrist, spine or hip, you should seek the advice of a Prilosec® lawyer. Our Prilosec® attorneys can help patients who have had such fractures after taking the medication.
