and individuals with brain injuries. It also features a forum for survivors,
an extensive list of resources, news releases, and fact sheets. The site
is available in both Spanish and English.
The Brain Injury Information Network

The Brain Injury Information Network (TBINet) was started in 1996 by a
group of caregivers to encourage communication about issues relevant to
living with brain injury. The site contains a limited amount of information
about brain injury, but TBINet runs 30 support mailing lists relating
to a wide variety of brain injury issues. Individuals can sign on to join
any list and receive information on treatment, research, coping strategies,
etc., via email.

The Brain Injury Society is a non-profit organization located in New York
and dedicated to empowering individuals living with conditions caused
by brain injuries. The organization works with clients, families, and
caregivers to identify strategies and techniques for recovery. Their site
contains information on brain injury, press releases, legal resources,
specialty pages, advice from doctors, and a comprehensive list of links
to other online resources. While the advocacy information is specific
to New York, the bulk of the information is useful regardless of geographical
location.
International Brain Injury Association

Founded in 1993, the International Brain Injury Association is dedicated
to providing international leadership, advancing opportunities and successes
for persons with brain injury. Their goal is to provide international
leadership for creative solutions to issues relating to brain injury.
Their site contains information on events they sponsor, links to resources
for survivors and family members, brain injury facts, and a private area
for members of the IBIA.
Neurology Channel

The Neurology Channel is hosted by Healthworks.com, an organization that
works to raise the quality of consumer health care information services,
allowing the individual to make informed decisions about medical treatment.
Board-certified physicians develop and monitor the content of the neurology
channel, which includes extensive information on various brain conditions
(including TBI), treatment options, a neurologist locator, and a forum
where individuals can consult physicians about specific questions.
National Database of Educational Resources on Traumatic Brain Injury

This is an online book written by Dr. Glen Johnson, a clinical neuropsychologist.
He created the book from materials he wrote for his patients and their
family members, using clear, easy to understand language. The book is
available online at no cost, although donations are accepted. Chapters
include common indicators of a head injury, coping with common problems,
stages of recovery, and how to deal with doctors. The book can also be
downloaded as a Microsoft Word version for easy referencing and printing.
