There is an enormous spectrum of Paxil side effects, ranging from mild to quite severe-even deadly. Much of the controversy surrounding the Paxil side effects centers on the fact that the manufacturers of Paxil, GlaxoSmithKline, deliberately failed to warn patients and physicians of many Paxil side effects, the drugs addictive nature, and the potential withdrawal reactions.
Paxil side effects can affect a patient physically, psychologically, and emotionally. The possible Paxil side effects include, but are not limited to, drowsiness, asthenia (lack of physical strength), tremors, nervousness, dizziness, insomnia, profuse sweating, ejaculatory delay, and weight loss. The more frequent Paxil side effects tend to also seem to be among the least severe. Among the rarer Paxil side effects are traumatic bone fractures, akinesia (temporary and painful muscle paralysis), mania, and paranoia.
The psychological Paxil side effects are gaining increasing media attention, and many more patients are now aware that there may be severe Paxil side effects including violent outbursts and suicidal tendencies. The reason for these Paxil side effects is still not entirely understood, but it is thought that elevated levels of serotonin could be linked to violent thoughts and actions in patients. Intense psychological Paxil side effects can occur even after only a few days on Paxil, or within a few days of an increase in dosage.
If you or a loved one is suffering from Paxil side effects, you should immediately consult a physician. Persons who are experiencing Paxil side effects are not advised to stop taking Paxil or to decrease the dosage unless instructed to do so by a doctor. The Paxil side effects may be temporarily relieved by stopping the medication, but Paxil withdrawal symptoms are often far worse than Paxil side effects. Persons who believe they have been injured by their Paxil side effects should speak with an attorney who is experienced in working with victims of Paxil side effects. Your legal rights depend upon your contacting an attorney within a timely manner after the discovery that you are suffering from Paxil side effects.
