NuvaRing MDL (multidistrict litigation) is in the news again. In February 2009, a federal court denied a motion from the manufacturers of the NuvaRing — Organon USA, Inc. / Organon Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. / Organon International, Inc. — that asked for all of the plaintiffs in the MDL to be ordered to provide medical experts' confirmation that the plaintiffs were injured by NuvaRing use.
The NuvaRing MDL issue was heard by Judge Rodney Sippel of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. In this multidistrict litigation, the cases of more than 100 individuals were consolidated in an effort to streamline the legal process. The MDL plaintiffs are all alleging that the manufacturers of the NuvaRing misled them about the safety of this contraceptive and failed to provide sufficient NuvaRing warnings about the risks of NuvaRing use.
The case information for this particular NuvaRing MDL is "In re: NuvaRing Products Liability Litigation, case number 1964," but other NuvaRing MDL may also arise around the U.S. as more individuals suffer the harmful effects of the NuvaRing vaginal ring. Many individual NuvaRing lawsuits have been filed based on severe NuvaRing injuries and deaths that may be linked to NuvaRing use.
