A Warsaw, Poland man has named Eli Lilly and Co. the target of a lawsuit because he claims the company''s Zyprexa drug gave him diabetes and other health problems. Zyprexa is a drug treatment for schizophrenia and manic depression but has recently been the target of lawsuits. Patients claim the drug resulted in instances of diabetes and other serious side effects.
The man claims Eli Lilly used deceptive advertising in order to increase off-label sales; some people have been prescribed Zyprexa for the treatment of depression. So far, 15 million people worldwide have been treated with Zyprexa since its 1996 FDA approval.
