About half of older patients that regularly take Vioxx or Celebrex for arthritis also take aspirin to prevent heart attacks. According to a report in the June 14, 2004 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine, this combination increases the risk of ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding.
