"Families Collect $9M from Trucking Company"

A trucking company has agreed to settle a wrongful death claim involving the June 2006 deaths of two young girls for $9 million.

The Accident
Chloe Baker, 2, and Korren Radke, 7, died when a concrete pumper truck owned by Brundage-Bone concrete rear-ended the family car on Highway 41 in California. The family’s car was one of several that had stopped for a disabled vehicle.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck was traveling at an unsafe speed when it rounded a corner and hit the victims’ car, which then hit the car in front of it.

The Settlement
The trucking company will pay Charles Baker and Amber Allen-Baker $7.5 million and Craig Radke, Korren’s father, $1.46 million, their attorneys said. The company has also agreed to settle with Kathy Bello, whose car was struck in the chain reaction.
