The driver in a dump truck accident in Massachusetts has been cited for a number of violations.
Richard Nichols was responsible for operating the dump truck that rolled down a road in Woburn, Massachusetts, causing damage to various vehicles and telephone poles, according to WHDH.
State police gave Nichols seven citations including one for improper use of vehicle equipment, as he failed to engage the truck's parking brake properly.
"They have, like, blocks to put under the wheels. They have whatever on different vehicles. So, evidently no blocks were put under those wheels. And it probably is a standard truck, so you can't put it in park, but usually you put it in neutral or you put the emergency brake on. Whatever, you use safety precautions. It doesn't look like any precautions were used there," a witness told the news source.
The truck accident apparently could have been much worse, according to one witness.
"There was a guy in a wheelchair 5 feet from the pole that he hit, and if he didn't hit the tree in my yard he definitely would have killed the guy in the wheelchair, I mean, there was no stopping that truck," James Murray, another witness, told the news provider.
The Woburn police are looking into whether Nichols should be charged with additional offenses.
