"MD Nursing Home in Sex Abuse Scandal"
Michael Jermain Bolling, 20, a nursing home caretaker in Berlin, Maryland has been charged with second-degree sexual offense, third-degree sexual offense, unnatural perverted sex practice and vulnerable adult abuse this past Tuesday.
Mr. Bolling, a resident of Salisbury, Maryland was a caretaker at the Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Center has suspended the 20 year old pending the findings of a criminal investigation.
The police are charging Mr. Bolling with sexual assault on a 90-year-old resident of the Center. The victim’s family members were the ones to contact law enforcement after learning about the abuse.
Bolling will be held on a $100,000 bond in the Worchester County Detention Center. He was licensed by Maryland as a geriatric nursing assistant.
According to the website of the National Center on Elder Abuse, abuse against the elderly may be on the rise. Their website cites evidence that says for every one case of reported abuse, five others go unreported.
