A settlement was recently reached in West Sacramento in a suit filed by the victim of a vicious dog attack.
One of the canines owned by the West Sacramento Police Department reportedly attacked and severely bit an innocent man from Carmichael.
Robert Jerome McAfee III, 24, was reportedly being arrested for being drunk in public when the dog bit his neck and torso.
The bites were supposedly so severe that he had to be transported by air from the Woodland Memorial Hospital to the Stanford University Hospital.
The dog that pounced on McAfee, Lugar, is said to have had a history of making such attacks at spontaneous times.
McAfee sustained multiple injuries from the attack and was treated at Stanford for the severe bites he endured.
After being released from the hospital, McAfee filed a suit against the city claiming the officers were negligent and unable to control the animal.
The city settled the case and McAfee has been awarded $88,000 for his injuries.
