A five-year old girl in Portland, Oregon, became the victim of a vicious dog attack by a police dog and her family is choosing to take action.
The incident occurred three years ago and the German shepherd who bit the girl reportedly belonged to the child’s uncle and she is still scarred.
According to reports, the police dog had a long history of aggression, but was not watched over as carefully as he should have been.
Innocent Child Becomes Victim
Trinity Loeb was at her uncle, Officer Scott Cunningham’s home, and went inside the house while he was doing yard work outside.
Cunningham says he heard the attack, but did not see it and by the time he arrived inside the dog had already ripped Trinity’s cheek apart.
Family Claims Uncle Attempted to Conceal Attack
The Loeb family claims that Cunningham didn’t call an ambulance when the attack occurred, but instead called them.
He also chose not to take Trinity to the nearby hospital and instead went to a medical center in another town.
“To me, that’s damage control,” states Chris Loeb, Trinity’s father.
Family Takes Action
A lawsuit was recently filed against the city of Gresham for Trinity’s physical and emotional injuries.
She now has a permanent scar going across her cheek.
