A fire that started in a hotel room at the Las Vegas Bellagio casino resort left one hotel guest injured and several others complaining about smoke inhalation. The hotel fire that allegedly started when a mattress caught fire occurred at 5:50 a.m. Sept 23.
According to Steve Smith, Clark County Fire Chief, the fire was contained to one room, but smoke and water from the emergency sprinkler system damaged an entire floor. The hotel guests staying in rooms on the 26 th floor were evacuated as crews cleaned up the mess.
Although they were not told to do so, several guests staying on the 25 th and 27 th floors voluntarily evacuated, and returned to their rooms later in the morning after the smoke died down.
Fire spokesman, Scott Allison, reported that one guest was taken to the hospital for burn injuries to his arm. No other guests were injured in the fire, but several complained of smoke inhalation and were treated on the scene. Allison added that none of the firefighters, who responded to the fire, were injured.
According to Allison, there was a fire that started in the mechanical room of the Venetian hotel-casino the night before. He stated that the cause of the Venetian fire is still under investigation. According to reports, the fire started in a pile of air filters, but was contained by the sprinkler system before any of the guests or workers sustained injuries.
