The City Attorney for Los Angeles, Rocky Delgadillo, prosecuted heiress Paris Hilton in her recent suspended license and drunk driving cases, and now Delgadillo is apologizing for his wife's driving arrest warrant and his own misdeeds while in public office.

Quite a List of Violations

The growing scandal is based on a number of transgressions committed by Delgadillo, who recently ran for the office of California Attorney General, and his wife Michelle:

• Michelle Delgadillo was found to have an outstanding nine-year-old arrest warrant for failure to appear in court on charges of driving with a suspended license, without auto insurance, in an unregistered car.

• Rocky Delgadillo admitted that he drove for more than a year without the automobile insurance that is required for all California drivers.

• His wife was still an uninsured driver in 2004 when she left the scene of an accident.

• Michelle was driving on a suspended license in 2004 using Rocky's city-owned GMC Yukon when she backed into a parking lot pole, damaging the car. He initially let the city (taxpayer dollars) pay the $1,200 worth of repairs. When the matter became public, he reimbursed the city.

• The couple has been chronically late in paying significant parking ticket fines.

• Rocky Delgadillo has also apparently had city employees babysit for his children while on tax-paid time.

The arrest warrant for Michelle was revealed by the Los Angeles Times on June 20, and hours after the warrant was publicized, she appeared in court to plead no contest to the misdemeanor charge of driving without a license. The warrant was then canceled.

LA's Top Law Enforcement Official

As Rocky Delgadillo has pointed out, he is the city's top law enforcement official. Investigations into these matters by both the Los Angeles Ethics Commission and the State Bar of California have begun.
