A man living in Fairmont, Illinois recently filed four separate lawsuits against the mobile home park where he lived for three days. Ivan Gomez is suing for personal injuries and for the wrongful death of his wife, two children and his wife’s uncle who all died in a fire at their home.
Gomez and his wife, Oliva, 24, and their two children, Vanessa, 4, and Roman, 2, moved into the mobile home park just three days prior to the fire. The lawsuit states that his mobile home was not equipped with the appropriate fire safety tools such as an extinguisher or fire alarm.
Gomez claims that the wrongful death of his family was a direct result of the negligence of the Havahome Mobile Park and its manager, Lisa Oseguera. He claims that if the park had complied with fire safety codes and taken the appropriate safety precautions, his family would still be alive.
In addition to the loss of his family, Gomez suffered burn injuries of his own in the fire. He is suing the defendants for his medical bills and for present and future pain and suffering caused by his family’s death.
Gomez is suing the defendants for $150,000 in losses. He has also filed three other personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits in which he seeks more than $1.5 million.
