An Illinois couple filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against Gateway Regional Medical Center and one of its nurses, claiming the nurse’s negligence resulted in serious injuries.
According to the lawsuit, Sharon Daniele was being treated at Gateway Regional Medical Center Dec. 26, 2006 for dizziness and vertigo symptoms. Ruth K. Droste, the on-duty nurse assisted Daniele to the bathroom. Once she was finished using the bathroom, however, Daniele claims she called for Droste, repeatedly, until she realized she had been left alone.
Daniele, who was allegedly still suffering from dizziness, tried to make it to her hospital bed, alone, and ended up falling. According to Daniele and her husband, she sustained serious injuries in the fall, including:
According to the suit, she is not the only one who has suffered from the fall. Her husband claims, he too, has suffered injuries as a result of Droste’s negligence. He argues he has suffered emotional pain and suffering and a loss of companionship from his wife.

The couple is seeking financial compensation to cover their losses. They are seeking sums in excess of $300,000 from the defendants in the Illinois medical malpractice lawsuit.
