"Increased Risk of Ulcers and Gastrointestinal Bleeding"

About half of older patients that regularly take Vioxx or Celebrex for arthritis also take aspirin to prevent heart attacks. According to a report in the June 14, 2004 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine, this combination increases the risk of ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding. A new survey has indicated that about half of the aspirin users also have even more increased risk because of their excessive use of aspirin.
