A Columbus, Ohio man’s parents have filed a $5.5 million civil lawsuit against a man they say murdered their son. The parents are also bringing a lawsuit against the Franklin County Coroner’s office in order to challenge their findings that their son committed suicide.
Their son, Phil Withrow, then 37, was found dead in his East Columbus, OH home. The man was slumped over in a chair and had died from a bullet wound to the neck. The Withrows have hired a lawyer and an outside forensic pathologist, Dr. Michael Propst, who testified on Tuesday.
Dr. Propst testified that the evidence in the case definitely does not point to suicide. The Doctor stated that he had never seen a gunshot wound that went into the neck at that angle and was self-inflicted.
The Withrows are suing to have their son’s death ruled a homicide, which would provoke further investigation by homicide detectives. The man they accuse of murdering his son is as yet unknown.
