According to a study presented at the American Heart Association scientific meeting, Avandia rival diabetes drug Actos was more effective in diabetics with high levels of triglycerides and low levels of HDL, the good cholesterol. Actos was shown to be significantly better at lowering triglycerides and raising HDL levels than Avandia, with both drugs being equally effective in their primary job of improving blood sugar levels.
