A bill filed yesterday in the Arkansas House of Representatives by Rep. Michael Lamoureux, R-Russellville, would allow felons convicted of drug possession to be eligible for parole after serving one-sixth to one-half of their sentences.
The bill would lower the minimum amount of time offenders must serve before being eligible for parole. Only people convicted of violating the Arkansas law forbidding possession of a controlled substance would be eligible under the bill.
