Three St. Louis, Missouri nursing homes, two of their executives, and their management company have settled in a lawsuit and have agreed to pay out $1.25 million in an abuse and Medicaid/Medicare related fraud case.
The US government, in federal court, filed the suit. The defendants included:

Catherine Hanaway, an attorney for the government, reported conditions in the homes that included severely dehydrated patients, malnutrition and improper feeding, unclean patients and homes, and abuse. An investigation also discovered one patient who was covered in ants.
In addition, AHM was found to have inadequate staffing procedures in their facilities. The defendants were also charged with submitting false claims to healthcare providers, a violation of the False Claims Act.
