For more than 25 years, Medtronic has been producing state-of-the-art diabetes management devices that, when worn properly and constantly, deliver a continuous stream of insulin to diabetes patients. Medtronic insulin pump therapy systems are offered in two models, 722 and 522, each of which come with:

An infusion set (formally known as the Quick-set Infusion Set) that implants a small tube (known as a cannula) beneath the skin
Glucose monitoring meters (the REAL-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring device and the OneTough UltraLink Meter) that, together, measure blood sugar levels, wirelessly report them to the pump and emit safety alarms if improper amounts of insulin are being delivered
The MiniMed Paradigm Insulin Pump

The primary difference between the Paradigm 722 and the Paradigm 522 is that:

The 722 model has a reservoir that can accommodate up to 300 units of insulin and, therefore, is recommended for those who require more than 50 units of insulin per day.
The 522 model has a reservoir that can only accommodate 1.76 ml of insulin and, therefore, is recommended for those with minimal insulin needs.
