Talks of a Lariam class action have been underway in response to allegations that the malaria drug can cause a person to go crazy. The drug has been used by more than 25 million people worldwide with efficiency, however the risk of dangerous and deadly effects far outweighs its’ benefits according to individuals and families involved with discussions of a Lariam class action lawsuit. Lariam was initially developed by the military but licensed to Hoffmann-La Roche.

Family members have been coming forward with observations made of individual’s extreme behavioral changes that occurred after using Lariam. In July 2003, the Washington Post reported the military is investigating at least seven suicides among troops in Iraq, in addition to a larger number of deaths that were classified as “non-combat weapons discharge” or “non-combat related”. A former Roche employee may be inadvertently assisting with the developments of a Lariam class action lawsuits that by currently consulting with attorneys that are suing.

The former employee has stated any drug of the quinolone family, such as Lariam can produce severe psychiatric problems in some users. There are widely disputed discrepancies in the number of severe side effects suffered among Lariam patients, but a 1996 British study that was widely reported found one in 140 people had such serious problems that they temporarily could not carry out their traveling function. As the number of individuals coming forward with serious concerns and complaints of Lariam effects, the greater the likelihood of a Lariam class action.
