Protopic (tacrolimus) – Protopic is a topical medication used for treating eczema, especially atopic eczema. In March 2005 the FDA issued a warning about Protopic and all other tacrolimus uses due to the apparent link between the drug and a rising cancer level. The FDA recommended patients to be aware of the risks when taking Protopic for their eczema. Tacrolimus was FDA-approved in 1994 for use in treating patients who had liver transplants and also other organ transplants.
