Darvon-N® is the brand name for the drug propoxyphene napsylate. Made by Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals Inc., it is a prescription opioid medication used to treat mild to moderate pain. Darvon-N® as well as other Darvon® medications were withdrawn from the market in the U.S. on November 19, 2010, because of newly revealed harm to the heart.
Darvon-N® comes in the tablet form prescribed to be taken every four hours as needed to control pain. No more than six tablets should be taken in a day, due to the danger of side effects and possible overdosage. An overdose of propoxyphene can result in sudden death.

The following patients might also be instructed to take a lower dose of the medication:
Patients are advised to take Darvon-N® with food, since it could upset the stomach. The drug should not be mixed with alcohol.
If you or a loved one suffered serious side effects from taking Darvon-N® or Darvocet®, in particular serious harm to your heart, you should contact a Darvon-N® attorney. Our Darvon® attorneys have the medical and legal knowledge to help you receive compensation for serious side effects caused by propoxyphene-containing drugs.
