Bregs Polar Care 500

Bregs Polar Care500® is a type of cold therapy device that is used to help reduce swelling and minimize pain for patients who have had certain surgeries and sports-related injuries. Also known as cryotherapy, cold therapy refers to treating an injury with ice. For years, people used ice packs to reduce swelling and help with inflammation. Today, there are actual devices, such as Bregs Polar Care500® that are designed to produce a continuous flow of cold water from a chest through a tube to a cooling pad that is to be applied to the injured area.

A patient will apply the pad to the injured area for specific amounts of time. If the cold pad is left on the injured area for too long, the patient may suffer from nerve damage, frostbite and/or tissue damage. The effects can be excruciating and can even lead to amputation.
