Crestor medication is used to treat patients with high cholesterol. Touted as a “super statin,” Crestor medication was approved by the Federal Drug Administration in August of 2003. Baycol was taken off the drug market when it was shown to cause a serious degenerative muscle disease in its patients. People with a history of liver problems are cautioned that taking the Crestor medication can aggravate or further impede liver functioning. Crestor medication patients who have a history of liver problems should have medical liver function tests completed regularly during the course of treatment. Women who plan to become or are pregnant or breastfeeding are advised not to take the Crestor medication. Clinical trials conducted by the Crestor medication manufacture report that Crestor can cause significant birth defects. One of the most serious side effects associated with the use of Crestor medication is the development of rhabdomyolosis. This potentially fatal muscle disease causes the release of toxic chemicals into the bloodstream which leads to a reduction in the body’s total blood supply and the breakdown of muscle cells. This Crestor medication-related condition can lead to acute renal failure or serious damage to other internal organs.
